FAQ
Do I Need A Doctor's Referral?
No. Physiotherapists are direct access health care providers. However, some health insurance providers may require a physician’s referral for reimbursement of fees paid for physiotherapy treatment. Please contact your insurer if you are unsure of their requirements.
What To Bring On My First Visit?
Please have your prescription (Not Mandatory) and insurance card available when you call. This will allow us to verify your insurance benefits and provide you with an estimate of coverage.
To bring on your first visit:
- Insurance information (we will make a copy of your card).
- A prescription (if your insurance company needed) for physiotherapy from your referring physician or GP.
- In case of an automobile accident or worker’s compensation claim, also bring any case manager or insurance adjuster contact names, phone numbers, and claim number.
- Print out the patient forms, fill them out, and bring them with you. If you are unable to do this, please allow for extra time to fill these out upon your arrival.
- Please arrive 15 minutes early to complete any remaining paperwork, so you can maximize your time in your evaluation.
What Happens On My First Visit?
- Your first visit will take between 45 – 60 minutes. Your therapist will take a thorough history of your complaints. They will ask you about the goals you hope to achieve from your treatment.
- On your first visit your therapist will also perform relevant physical tests to help establish a diagnosis. They may recommend further testing such as an xray or MRI.
- All of these details are then used to work with you to establish an individual treatment plan to help resolve your condition.
